When you can't do what you have have always done, then you only do what matters most.

One of my friends posted this inspirational quote from Robert D Hales, I think she was inspired to post it for me, it certainly really resonated with me.  Having spent the past year feeling like an utter failure , I decided that I would take that quote to heart, especially today; last day of the school holidays where I usually run around like a headless chicken.

I let Ismay decorate a mask  so she could play dressing up with the costume Nanah made her for Christmas. She wanted to make up a dance with me so she brought our ballet shoes out and we had fun dancing together.

Eden, who is obsessed with all things screen related was allowed to buy a game for the Wii with money he had earned during the holidays.  He had saved Enough to buy a second hand batman game.  Today he was allowed to play on it for an hour, providing he let Mia play.

So I would have preferred to take the kids out, but I just couldn't, so I did what matters and was there for them, playing, listening and observing.

When it was time to make tea, they all played really nicely with the lego - this reminds me of all the times I did this with my siblings and made me smile.
