February - The month of love

I love February; to me it signals the long month of January being over and with its short month edges us closer to spring. This year was the first time in 11 years that we had some money to spend on Valentines, so I went all out.  Jason had to stay overnight for work, so we were all really excited to see him again.  Here's what we left him on the bed to welcome him home from work:
  • New shirt and tie
  • Minstrels (his favourite)
  • Love Heart sweets
  • Moisturiser (his had run out)
  • Krispy Kremes
  • Chocolate hearts
  • And the non alcoholic Asda version of Muscat. (Which has a cork that explodes!)

For the kids I prepared little gift bags filled with sweet treats.  I placed a note in each of their lunch boxes telling them how much I loved them, and when they got home from school they found these treats waiting for them.  They were thrilled to bits, Eden saying: "This is the best Valentines day ever!"
Jason made it home in the nick of time, and managed to reserve a place at the Olive Tree in the Holiday Inn. The food was gorgeous, as was the company.

The restaurant wasn't that busy so were done by 9, so we decided to round our date off by doing the food shopping which was actually a really nice treat to be able to do that together without having to juggle entertaining three small children.
This month the car broke down as I was travelling back from work.  I was so grateful that it happened at school and NOT on the M6 or anywhere else.  I was also really thankful that Jason had insisted on us buying AA cover as I was able to be towed to the garage and was able to be taken home.
When we moved to this house, Jason and I were very keen for it to be an open house, where people could drop in and feel welcome.  We encourage the children to invite their friends over.  This month the girls enjoyed having Rebekah Daniels over to play.  We also looked after the Polland children a couple of times so that Hannah could get her Uni work done.  Our children love looking after them and sharing their toys.
The girls were thrilled to invite Bekah for a sleepover as it was half term.  they got up to lots of girly things like doing each others hair, painting nails.  They even did some gardening in the morning and some potato painting.
Half term was also a time to catch up with our old neighbours the Maries.  We got to hold baby Jack and enjoy lots of cuddles with him.
As a special treat, Sarah and I took the children to Macdonalds for lunch (the Maries live within walking distance to the Donnington branch).  The children were thrilled to bits, and were given balloons.  On the way back they all held their balloons and walked home holding hands.  It was so cute.  Ismay and Fearne have been friends with each other all their lives since they were born at the same time.  The Maries are moving to Australia in the next couple of months, we will really miss them.

Ismay and Mia have been playing really nicely together this month.  They really love to play schools and produce their own register and work sheets complete with learning objective. Another game they love to play is Mummies and Babies and Mia is often the Mummy whilst Ismay enjoys being the baby.  They also love dressing up their cuddly toys. They also love to take photographs or have their photos taken, as can be seen here (they pleaded with me to take a photo of them with their toys.
